A new generation of actuaries
EMAS 4 start in januari 2014
Afgelopen maanden heeft het Actuarieel Instituut een inventarisatie gedaan onder studenten van de Premaster van de EMAS met als doel inzicht te krijgen in de te verwachte instroom voor de EMAS. Deze inventarisatie is nodig, omdat studenten in de Premaster een eigen leerpad volgen en in principe maximaal twee deficiënties mogen hebben om toegelaten te worden tot de EMAS.
Uit de inventarisatie zijn de volgende punten naar voren gekomen:

Vrijwel alle studenten hebben behoefte aan een rustperiode tussen de afsluiting van hun Premaster en de start van de EMAS;

Een groot aantal van de studenten met een beperkte aantal deficiënties wil graag starten, maar kan moeilijk inschatten of ze startklaar zijn in september 2013.
Het Actuarieel Instituut heeft, gezien de uitkomsten van de inventarisatie, in samenspraak met TiasNimbas Business School besloten de start van EMAS 4 niet in september 2013 te laten plaatsvinden, maar te verplaatsen naar januari 2014.

The demand for skilled actuarial professionals is growing. Actuaries are the leading professionals in finding ways to manage risk, and managing risk requires knowledge of several disciplines. Understanding how businesses operate, how legislation may have an impact and how financial economics may affect securities are all vital skills for an actuary. Globalization, the integration of financial markets, changing IT environments and market innovation in risk management ensure that the actuary field of action is becoming more challenging and complex by the day. In response to these changes, the Dutch Actuarial Institute (Actuarieel Instituut) and TiasNimbas Business School (TiasNimbas) have developed the Executive Master of Actuarial Science (EMAS).
